Woodie came to us as a result of hurricane Ida. He lived outside and somehow survived the hurricane. He escaped his yard and wandered over 2 miles where he was hanging out by a gas station/garage.  

The owner of the shop was feeding him and reached out for rescue help. A Texas rescuer was headed there to help with supplies and bring a few dogs back to rescues. He was picked and scanned for a chip. His owners were notified but they were not able to take him due to the damage and uncertainty of their future so they signed him over.

His story breaks our hearts but we know he is safe and so loved in our care. It’s now our mission to find him his furever home!

Woodie is very mild and has a calm energy. He’s good with other dogs of all sizes. Woodie would like a home with another dog to help him feel comfortable and play with! Since he spent his life thus far outside he LOVES the outside. Lying in the sun is happy place!  He is such a smart boy that knows his basic commands, crate trained etc.   Woodie would love to find a home where he is loved on and spoiled.  He is such a true gentlemen with a calm energy. 

He loves his crate and is very quiet. He does need to be crated when left alone due to a penchant for chewing. He can slip through the bars of an iron fence so we are looking for a home that has a 6’+ wood fence secure fence.
